A DIY Father's Day Present

“The love of a family is life's greatest blessing”

Happy Father's Day

With the recent addition to our family I didn't have the energy to get to the store to buy a decent Father's Day present.  I considered shopping online but could not find the perfect gift.  I decided the best present would have to be a DIY one.

I took the kids outside with a few outfits and props and set them in the grass. I sat back and watched them interact and snapped away at the priceless moments.  It went smooth initially but newborn photography can be extremely challenging. They sleep so much and when they are awake they have very little to say. If you can catch their attention there is a perfect stillness to their eyes when they look at you that melts the heart. This is the shot I was after.

The same can be said for sibling photography, another challenge.  Chaos comes quick when shooting a new big brother who is being told to interact with his baby sister instead of the normal, "Leave your sister alone!"  Within seconds he was rolling with laughter because she was sucking on his finger.  After he discovered this phenomenon he couldn't help himself. Every time I turned around his finger was back in her mouth.

This quick outdoor session took only minutes but created lasting memories that I have already blown up in multiple frames around the house.  It turned out to be the greatest Father's Day present and I have to share them because they are just too precious.  ( I may be a little biased being the photographer and mother)

  1. Nice batch of photos! Certainly I am not biased either, being their grandma.
